Meld, a Lithuania-licensed crypto bank, joins forces with DeFi platform Swarm Markets to offer tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) to retail investors. Swarm, licensed by the German financial regulator, established an RWA trading platform last December, while Meld recently obtained its VASP license in Lithuania, positioning itself to tap into the growing market for tokenized assets.

In this groundbreaking partnership, Meld plans to leverage its VASP license to facilitate lending and borrowing against real-world assets, allowing investors to unlock liquidity and access new financial opportunities. With Swarm's expertise in DeFi and real-world asset trading, the collaboration promises to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the crypto ecosystem.

Tokenized RWAs, which involve digitizing traditional asset classes like stocks, bonds, and real estate on blockchain platforms, are gaining traction as a transformative force in the financial industry. By bringing these assets to the blockchain, Meld and Swarm aim to democratize access to investment opportunities, empowering retail investors to participate in previously inaccessible markets.

The partnership with Meld could see a large retail user base access tokenized RWAs through a licensed banking service. Meld recently secured its virtual asset service provider (VASP) license in Lithuania, which in theory should make it easier for it to win equivalent licenses in other European Union member states, thanks to the bloc's Market in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation.

With over 75,000 prospective customers already signed up for early access to its platform, Meld is poised to revolutionize the way retail investors engage with real-world assets in the crypto space. As interest in tokenized assets continues to soar, Meld and Swarm are at the forefront of innovation, driving the adoption of blockchain technology in traditional finance.
