Sweden’s central bank is urging lawmakers to reconsider a digital krona as foreign currency stablecoins and a future digital euro raise questions over the krona’s role in payments. The Riksbank says preparations should begin now because any launch would take at least five years and could become important for resilience, monetary control and public access to central bank money.
