Revolut disclosed customer identity documents, home addresses and bitcoin transaction histories after a fraudulent government request cleared internal checks. The digital bank said customer funds remained safe, while the incident sharpened concerns over data retention, AI-assisted impersonation and crypto privacy.

The European Central Bank has selected 36 banks and payment companies for a 12-month digital euro pilot scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027. The trial will test a beta version of the proposed central bank digital currency across online, offline, in-store and e-commerce payments using ECB and national central bank staff as users.

Kraken is pursuing a full banking license in Europe, with Lithuania emerging as the focal jurisdiction for the plan. The move would deepen the crypto exchange’s regulated financial services ambitions as its parent company Payward seeks broader licensing worldwide.
