Bitcoin has entered the mandatory signaling period for BIP-110, a controversial soft fork proposal aimed at limiting non-financial data on the network. Miner support remains far below the required threshold, while supporters are framing the effort as a user-activated push led by node operators.

Bitcoin’s BIP-110 proposal is moving toward a key activation window despite negligible public miner signaling. The user-activated soft fork debate is becoming a broader test of who coordinates Bitcoin rule changes: miners, nodes, exchanges, or users.

A bitcoin wallet inactive since 2011 moved nearly 50 BTC worth about $3.2 million to a SegWit address with prior links to FalconX-labeled deposits. The coins remained at the receiving address as of Friday morning, leaving the holder’s intent unclear.

Quantum computing is moving from distant theory toward a practical risk for encrypted systems, and Bitcoin may be among the first major networks tested. Market experts say the largest challenge may not be cryptography itself, but whether decentralized governance can move quickly enough to deploy post-quantum protections.
