A firmware flaw in Coinkite’s Coldcard hardware wallet has been linked to the theft of nearly 600 bitcoin, worth roughly $38 million so far. The incident is forcing Bitcoin investors to reconsider the trade-offs between self-custody, professional custodians and spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Nine major crypto firms have formed the Bitcoin Security Consortium, pledging a combined $15 million over three years for Bitcoin security research and open-source development. The initiative will support work on post-quantum defenses while avoiding any role in Bitcoin governance or protocol decisions.

Ark Invest added more than $75 million in crypto-linked stocks in June as the sector sold off, reinforcing its buy-the-dip strategy. Coinbase, Circle and Bullish were the main beneficiaries even as Circle suffered a steep monthly decline.

Ark Invest accumulated nearly 3.3 million SpaceX shares worth more than $500 million on the company’s record-setting IPO day. The move came alongside more than $325 million in stock sales across at least 13 companies.
