Vitalik Buterin has outlined a 2030 vision for Ethereum that relies on cryptographic proofs and off-chain computation to expand capacity without forcing every network participant to repeat the same work. The direction would also deepen privacy for payments, balances and wallet activity, though major engineering hurdles remain.

Ethereum and Coinbase backed Base have stopped efforts to merge their next generation wallet standards after months of discussions. The decision leaves cross network wallets and apps preparing to support EIP 8141 on Ethereum and EIP 8130 on Base.
