Ethereum developers are narrowing the candidate list for Hegotá, a major upgrade expected to ship in 2027. Among the 66 proposals under review is Frame Transactions, a package designed to reduce the outside infrastructure needed for private payment applications while keeping ordinary ETH transfers transparent.

Ethereum researchers have introduced EIP-8361, a draft proposal that would burn a rising share of newly issued validator rewards as more ETH is staked. The plan has triggered debate across developers, validators and DeFi participants because it could reshape staking economics and may not make the Hegotá upgrade timeline.
