Ethereum developers are narrowing the candidate list for Hegotá, a major upgrade expected to ship in 2027. Among the 66 proposals under review is Frame Transactions, a package designed to reduce the outside infrastructure needed for private payment applications while keeping ordinary ETH transfers transparent.

Ethereum researchers and developers are broadly backing Vitalik Buterin’s updated Lean Ethereum strawmap, which prioritizes privacy, recursive STARKs and quantum-resistant cryptography. The strongest criticism centers on timing, with several prominent voices arguing that a three-to-four-year execution window may not be ambitious enough.
