U.S. federal prosecutors are reportedly investigating whether Binance knowingly allowed trading activity that may have violated sanctions on Iran. The inquiry adds pressure on the exchange after its 2023 guilty plea and $4.3 billion settlement over banking compliance failures.

Russia’s State Duma has approved a comprehensive cryptocurrency framework that will regulate exchanges, depositories, mining and digital asset services. The law keeps domestic crypto payments banned but allows limited use of digital currencies in foreign trade and other specified transactions.

Binance has pulled its MiCA license application in Greece after delays and regulatory uncertainty forced it to pause some services for EU users. The exchange says it remains committed to Europe and is still pursuing a path back into the bloc’s regulated framework.

The U.S. Treasury has sanctioned 134 cryptocurrency addresses linked to ISIS-K, including 131 on Tron and three on Monero. Tether later froze funds in the Tron wallets as authorities widened pressure on terror finance and crypto laundering networks.

CoinEx has pushed back against allegations that it served as a major conduit for sanctioned Iranian crypto activity. TRM Labs says the exchange handled billions in blockchain-traced transfers, while CoinEx denies any commercial relationship with Iranian entities.

North Korea-linked hackers have stolen over $2 billion in cryptocurrency in 2025, nearly triple last year’s total. Elliptic says funds are used to support Pyongyang’s weapons programs.
